Startup Feed — common questions
How JobClaw surfaces funded startups before they post jobs publicly.
What counts as a hiring signal?
A hiring signal is any public data point that reliably predicts near-term hiring: a closed funding round (Crunchbase, SEC Form D), a spike in engineering headcount visible via professional network data, a founder announcing growth plans, or a company moving from stealth to public. Not every signal results in an open role — but together they identify which companies are entering a growth phase where hiring is likely.
Is this only for tech startups or any industry?
The Startup Feed is strongest for VC-backed tech, SaaS, and fintech companies — where funding signals are public, frequent, and reliably precede hiring. It is less comprehensive for consumer, biotech, or non-VC-backed businesses where funding data is harder to aggregate. If your target industry is heavy on VC funding, the feed will be dense; if not, the job board coverage is more relevant to you.
How early do I see these signals vs the public?
SEC Form D filings typically appear 15 days after a company closes a funding round — and often before any press coverage. Crunchbase signals appear within 24–48 hours of announcement. For funded startups, this is often weeks before a job is posted publicly. For companies in stealth or that raise without a press release, Form D is sometimes the only external signal at all.
What do I do when I see a company in the feed?
The natural next step is cold outreach — email the founder or hiring manager directly, referencing the funding round as context for why you're reaching out. JobClaw's Cold Outreach feature can draft and send this email for you. A message that arrives within 72 hours of a funding announcement, before job postings exist, has a significantly higher response rate than applying to an open role weeks later.
