Resume tailoring — common questions
What gets changed, what stays the same, and how it works per role.
Will tailoring change my work experience or bullet points?
No. JobClaw only rewrites your headline, professional summary, and skills section — the three elements ATS systems weight most heavily and that benefit most from role-specific language. Your work history, dates, and bullet points remain exactly as you wrote them. The tailored version is a new file; your original is never modified.
How is this different from just adding keywords to my resume myself?
Manually adding keywords usually means appending a keyword list at the bottom — a pattern ATS systems and recruiters both recognise and penalise. JobClaw rewrites the headline and summary to naturally incorporate the role's language, so keywords appear in context. A summary that reads 'results-driven engineer with experience in distributed systems' scores differently in an ATS than the same words in a keyword block.
Does this work for every job type or is it optimised for tech roles?
It works for any role where the job description uses consistent, specific language. Tech roles tend to have explicit skill lists ('Required: 5 years of Python, experience with Kubernetes') which makes tailoring highly effective. For vaguer descriptions — many managerial or creative roles — the tailoring is less granular but still surfaces your most relevant profile elements for that context.
How long does tailoring take?
Typically 5–10 seconds per role once your resume is parsed and on file. JobClaw queues tailoring as part of the pipeline run — you approve or edit the output before anything is sent.
Can I edit the tailored resume before submitting?
Yes. Every tailored version opens in the Resume Studio before you apply. You can edit the headline, tweak the summary, reorder skills, or revert to your original. No tailored version is used in an application without your review.
